Job Summary of Cash Office Associate:
This role is responsible for performing accounting duties such as reconciling and recording drawers, balancing office cash, and preparing bank deposits. The role also involves assisting with customer service, maintaining store security, and ensuring proper cash handling procedures. This position requires attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Cash Office Associate:
- Responsible for the accounting bookwork practices, including reconciling and recording drawers, balancing office cash, lottery, and stamps. Assists in the research of discrepancies and keeps management informed.
- Prepares or assists with the preparation of bank deposits, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Greets customers with a smile, answers questions, and resolves concerns in a polite and professional manner.
- Follows Weis Markets policies to enhance customer satisfaction during checkout.
- Assists customer service with answering phone calls and maintaining a positive attitude.
- Uses the intercom for announcements or pages as needed.
- Monitors the performance of cashiers and lot attendants, providing feedback to management.
- Ensures compliance with all front-end policies, procedures, and government regulations. Participates in training and retraining front-end associates.
- Operates front-end scanning equipment and registers, performing all checkout procedures efficiently and accurately.
- Maintains accuracy in transactions, ensuring proper charge for all items and the collection of appropriate funds.
- Adheres to security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures, preventing overages or shortages.
- Maintains knowledge of weekly ads, marketing promotions, and store layout to assist customers.
- Follows cleaning schedules and departmental guidelines to ensure work areas meet health and OSHA standards.
- Cooperates with co-workers and superiors to ensure smooth operations in the department and store.
- Responsible for continuous improvement in job performance.
- Utilizes company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut-resistant gloves and safety cutters.
- May assist in other departments as needed.
Qualifications and Experience of Cash Office Associate:
- Education: Completed or working towards a high school diploma or GED.
- No prior experience required.
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
