Job Summary of Picker/Packer:
In a Sysco warehouse, employees play a critical role in the foodservice supply chain by picking orders that are due for delivery at restaurants and other foodservice venues in the vicinity. This job entails physical labor and the use of equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts, with work environments that can have fluctuations in temperature.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Picker/Packer:
- Efficiently operate electric pallet jacks and forklifts for product handling.
- Construct and organize merchandise onto pallets to assemble precise customer deliveries.
- Follow safety protocols when operating in workspaces exposed to various temperature extremes, including refrigerated and frozen zones.
- Carry out all responsibilities with a keen eye for detail and a strong emphasis on maintaining high standards.
- - Perform other assigned duties within the warehouse setting.
Qualifications and Experience of Picker/Packer:
- The individual must be of lawful age, which is a minimum of 18 years.
- Very little relevant work experience, not exceeding a year.
- Frequently carry loads that vary from 10 to 75 pounds, and periodically may need to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Capable of reaching a height of 72 inches and standing on feet for 10 to 12 hours daily.
- Skilled in operating in extreme temperatures, including chilled and frozen settings.
- The ideal candidate should possess one year of hands-on experience operating electric pallet jacks or forklifts.
- Those with a history of working in warehouses, the military, or other physically active jobs are encouraged to apply.
- Requested: Two years of ongoing work experience.
